This Special Instruction was written in order to provide instructions for the disassembly and assembly of the water cooled TPS 57 turbocharger. The entire instruction should be read and understood before any work is done on the engine.Disassembly

G     8T-5096     Dial Indicator Test Group     1    Put identification marks on all of the casings and the housings in order to correctly align the turbocharger during assembly.
Remove the turbocharger from the engine.

Attach Tooling (A), and a suitable lifting device to the exhaust adapter (1) .
Remove bolts (2), the nuts, and the washers.
Remove exhaust adapter (1). The weight of the exhaust adapter is approximately 31 kg (68 lb).

Remove gasket (3) .Note: Inspect the gasket. If necessary, replace the gasket.

Use Tooling (D) in order to loosen V-band clamp (5) .
Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to the housing (4) at position (H). The weight of housing is approximately 11 kg (24 lb).
Remove V-band clamp (5). Remove housing (4) .

Remove O-ring seal (6) from housing (4) .

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to compressor housing (7) .
Remove bolts (8) and the segments. Remove compressor housing (7). The weight of the compressor housing is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).

Attach a chain and a suitable lifting device to cartridge assembly (9) .
Remove V-band clamp (10) with Tooling (D) .
