When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

Certain 178-8973 Bearings in dealer parts stock may fail prematurely.
ACTION REQUIRED
Remove all 178-8973 Bearings from dealer parts stock.
Replace the 178-8973 Bearings in all 343-5635 & 293-1020 Bearing Kits in dealer parts stock with the new 334-0229 Bearing.
Replace all 178-8973 Bearings in 319-6703 and 0R9814 Wheel Groups in dealer exchange inventory with the new 334-0229 Bearing.
SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all parts removed from dealer parts stock and bearing kits.Submit one claim for each exchange wheel station in dealer inventory.For each dealer exchange wheel station, 12 labor hrs are allowed to replace the (8) - 178-8973 Bearings with the new 334-0229 Bearing.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.

APD, EAME and LACD Dealers will need to return the bearings removed from parts stock according to their normal warranty return procedures. All bearings are to be returned. "Send It Back" will generate a Parts Return Request (PRR). Please return bearings in their original condition and
