Separation Procedure
Start By:
Remove the engine and torque converter assembly. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine and Torque Converter - Remove".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove nuts (6). Remove implement pump (5) .
Remove bolts (2). Remove relief valve (1) .
Remove bolts (3). Remove power train pump (4) .

Disconnect wire terminal (7) from the sensor.
Disconnect wire harness (9) from the sensor.
Reposition wire harness (8) away from the torque converter.

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device.
Remove mounting bolts (10) from the flange of the torque converter. If necessary, install 10 mm forcing screws into threaded holes (X). Tighten the forcing screws in order to separate the torque converter from the flywheel housing.
Remove the torque converter. The weight of the torque converter is 113 kg (250 lb).
