Effective July 1, 1992 regulations prohibit the venting of any refrigerant in the atmosphere. Refer to Caterpillar publication SENR3334, SENR5664 and NEDG5065 for the proper procedure, equipment and tools to reclaim refrigerant from any Caterpillar machine.Always wear goggles when working on air conditioning systems. The system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. Escaping refrigerant can cause freezing of human flesh.Do not smoke while working on air conditioning systems. INHALING REFRIGERANT R-134A THROUGH ANY SMOKING MATERIAL, ALTHOUGH NOT TOXIC OR FLAMMABLE, CAN GENERATE LETHAL PHOSGENE GAS AND CAUSE VIOLENT ILLNESS OR DEATH. 1. Evacuate the air conditioning system. 2. Mark and identify all hose assemblies prior to installation. Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and (3) from air conditioner accumulator (2). 3. Remove O-ring seal (4) from hose assembly (3). Remove air conditioner accumulator (2) from the front frame assembly.4. Repeat Step 3 for the remaining hose assembly. The following steps are for the installation of the air conditioning accumulator.5. Make sure all components of the air conditioning accumulator are clean of dirt and foreign material prior to installation.6. Check all O-ring seals and components for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. 7. Install air conditioner accumulator (2) to the front frame assembly. Install O-ring seal (4) to hose assembly (3).8. Repeat Step 7 for the remaining hose assembly. 9. Connect hose assemblies (1) and (3) to air conditioner accumulator (2).10.
