(1) Outlet for the transmission oil cooler (2) Bypass valve (3) Inlet for the transmission oil cooler (4) Transmission oil coolerTransmission oil cooler (4) is mounted along the inside of the right hand frame rail behind the radiator. Engine coolant goes through the transmission oil cooler (4) in order to cool the oil. Oil from the transmission hydraulic control and the transmission lubrication section of the transmission gear pump will flow to the transmission oil cooler (4). The oil will flow in inlet (3) through the oil cooler and out outlet (1). After the oil is cooled the oil goes to the transmission case for lubrication of the transfer gears and transmission.There is a bypass valve (2) on the transmission oil cooler inlet (3) that is mounted to the transmission oil cooler (4). The bypass valve (2) on the transmission oil cooler inlet (3) protects the transmission oil cooler (4) when the engine is started during cold weather. The bypass valve (2) on the transmission oil cooler inlet (3) will also be used if the transmission oil cooler (4) becomes blocked.
