Inspect
Open the engine access door on the right side of the machine.

With the engine off, loosen bolts (2) and remove cover (1).

(A) New belt
(B) Worn belt
Inspect the condition of the serpentine belt. Over time the belt ribs will lose material (C). The space between the ribs will increase (D). The loss of material will cause the pulley sheave to contact the belt valley. This will lead to belt slippage and accelerated wear (E). Replace the belt if the belt is worn or frayed.Replace/Adjust

Insert a ratchet with a square drive into the square hole that is located in the belt tensioner (4).
Rotate the belt tensioner (4) clockwise to relieve tension on the belt.
Remove the belt.
Install the new belt correctly, as shown.
Rotate the belt tensioner (4) counterclockwise to apply tension to the belt. The correct tension will automatically be applied.
Be sure that the belt is fully seated on the pulleys.
Install the cover (1) and bolts (2).
Close the engine right-hand access door.
