Remove the crankshaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Remove".

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove crankshaft gear (2) from crankshaft (1) .
Remove drive pin (3) .Installation Procedure

Install drive pin (3) .
Always wear protective gloves when handling parts that have been heated.
Note: Do not use a torch to heat the gear. The gear can be warped if a torch is used. The hardness of the gear may also be changed with the use of a torch.
Preheat the oven to a maximum temperature of 210° C (410° F).
Heat crankshaft gear (2) in the oven for a maximum of one hour.
Install crankshaft gear (2) on the end of crankshaft (1) . Ensure that the slot in crankshaft gear (2) is aligned with drive pin (3) .
If crankshaft gear (2) does not fit and the gear was not heated during the removal of the gear then repeat Step 2 thru Step 4. Do not heat the gear more than two times during the life of crankshaft gear (2) .

Use Tooling (B) in order to seat crankshaft gear (2) against the shoulder of crankshaft (1) .
Use Tooling (C) in order to ensure that crankshaft gear (2) is seated against the shoulder on the crankshaft.Note: Check the crankshaft gear in three places with Tooling (C) .End By: Install the crankshaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Install".
