Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check Resistance Between Pins. For the Mass Air Flow Sensor, Check between Pins 4 and 5

Resistance
Result: The resistance measurement is not within the specification.
Replace the temperature sensor.
Result: The resistance of the temperature sensor is within specification.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Check Resistance At the ECM Connector Terminals (sensor signal) and (ground)
Refer to Table 2
Check voltages in Cat ET (refer to Table 3).
Resistance
Result: If not good then the fault is in the wiring harness, the connectors to the ECM are not fully seated, or the ECM or sensor pins are bent. Repair or replace.
Result: If good, then recheck to see if the fault code is still active.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
3. Electrical Connectors
A. Refer to "Electrical Connectors - Inspect" Connectors
Result: The electrical connection is not OK.
There is still a problem in the harness or connectors. Make the necessary repairs.
Result: The electrical connections are OK.

523599-0 All Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Failure Engine speed is 1400 rpm or more
Quantity of fuel injection is 30 mm 3/st or more
Coolant temperature is 65° C (149° F) or more for more than 5 minutes
Intake air temperature is 0° C (32° F) or more 100 seconds after cranking
All three aftertreatment temperature sensors fail simultaneously.

Result: The values for the sensors are not within specification.
Result: The values for the sensors are within specification.
Proceed to Test Step 3.
3. Exhaust Temperature Sensor Installation
A. Check for correct installation of the three exhaust gas temperature sensors on the aftertreatment.

Result: The exhaust temperature sensors are not installed correctly.
Make the necessary repairs.
Result: The exhaust temperature sensors are installed correctly.
