Inspect the date code on all 248-7143 Front Idlers that are in dealer parts stock. The date code is stamped on the side of the from idler, refer to Image 1. Remove all front idlers that have a date code of 91011 or earlier from dealer parts stock.
- The first number of the date code is the year of manufacture: 200X.
- The second number of the date code is the month. The numbers 1 through 9 represent January through September and the letters X, Y and Z represent October, November, and December.
- The third number and the fourth number of the date code is the day of the month.
- The fifth number of the date code is the production code for line 1 or line 2.
To facilitate the identification of some of the improved front idlers, identification mark 0 (zero) was added.
****Affected Product****
If the existing front idler fails, replace with an improved front idler. The improved front idlers are stamped with a date code of 91011 or later date. Refer to Action Required - Parts Stock and Image 1 for date code information.
To facilitate the identification of some of the improved front idlers, identification mark 0 (zero) was added. This improved front idler is effective with parts that have a date code of 9x061 or later (Note: The idlers that have data code 91011 to 9x052 were improved but the mark 0 was not stamped).
