Joystick Steering Function component connectionsThe Joystick Steering Enable Switch provides two switch-to-ground inputs to the Machine ECM to indicate the status of the switch. The ECM enables or disables the Joystick Steering Function based on the input status from this operator controlled switch when the machine conditions are correct.When enabled, the Joystick Steering Function will have priority over any other attachment function that can be controlled by the Right Joystick Thumbwheel.When the ECM enables the Joystick Steer Function, the Monitor will display the Joystick Steer Symbol in order to indicate that the function is active.In order to enable the Joystick Steering Function, the ECM must detect that the following machine conditions are correct.
The machine is operating in the Gear 1 speed range.
The Joystick Steering Enable Switch is in the ON positionIf the machine is in Gear 1 and the Joystick Steer Enable Switch N.O. contacts are closed to ground, the ECM will enable the joystick steering solenoids. If the machine is in Gear 2 when the N.O. switch contacts are closed to ground, the ECM will wait until the machine is shifted to Gear 1 before enabling the joystick steer solenoids. The Joystick Steering Protection Solenoid is energized with system power from the energized Implement Lockout Relay (lockout OFF). When the Joystick Steering Enable Switch is in the ON position, this system power is directed through the switch contacts to energize the solenoid. When the Implement Lockout Relay is de-energized (lockout ON), the Joystick Steering Protection Solenoid will be de-energized in order to disable the Joystick Steering System. This results in the Joystick Steering Function being disabled when the Implement Lockout Function is ON regardless of the state of the Joystick Steering Enable Switch.When Joystick Steer is enabled, the ECM will control the joystick steering solenoids according to the PWM input signal received from the right joystick thumbwheel position sensor.Note: The Right Joystick Thumbwheel Position Sensor PWM duty cycle input signal is near 5 percent at the full left position and 95 percent at the full right position. The duty cycle is at approximately 50 percent at the center position.The ECM will use a PWM output signal that has an electrical current range of 331 mA to 700 mA that is calibrated to a specific thumbwheel position.When the thumbwheel is moved toward the left position, the electrical current of the signal will range from 331 mA (approximate 45 percent PWM input signal from the thumbwheel) to 700 mA (full left position - approximate 5% PWM input signal from the thumbwheel).When the thumbwheel is moved toward the right position, the electrical current of the solenoid energize signal will range from 331 mA (approximate 55 percent PWM input signal from the thumbwheel) to 700 mA (full right position - approximate 95% PWM input signal from the thumbwheel).In order to ensure maximum performance, the Machine Control ECM will automatically calibrate the Left Joystick Thumbwheel Position Sensor and the Right Joystick Thumbwheel Position Sensor each time that the ECM is powered
