Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures.Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.
Prime the fuel system in order to purge trapped air and in order to fill the fuel filter.

Fuel system priming pump switch
The switch for the fuel system priming pump is located near the hinge of the engine access door on the left-hand side of the machine. Open the left-hand engine access door in order to operate the fuel system priming pump switch.Note: The engine start switch must be in the OFF position in order to prime the fuel system.

(1) Primary fuel filter/water separator bleeder valve
(2) Primary fuel filter/water separator bleeder valve drain hose
Locate the primary fuel filter/water separator. The primary fuel filter/water separator is mounted on the inboard vertical surface of the fuel tank.
Direct the open end of primary fuel filter/water separator bleeder valve drain hose (2) into a suitable container. Open primary fuel filter/water separator bleeder valve (1) in order to allow air to be purged from the filter.
Hold the priming pump switch upward in order to activate the electric fuel priming pump. The priming pump will fill the engine fuel lines and the fuel filters with fuel.
As the air is purged from the fuel system, fuel pressure will increase.
Once the air is purged from the tank lines and the filter, close the bleeder valve on the primary fuel filter. Dispose of all fluids that are collected from the bleeder valve drain hose according to local regulations.
Listen for the electric fuel priming pump to come under load. Do not continue priming the fuel system after the priming pump is under load. Do not operate the priming pump for more than 2 minutes.
If the engine starts but the engine runs rough, continue to run the engine at low idle until the engine runs smoothly.
If the engine does not start after several attempts, consult your Cat dealer.
