Emergency shutoff controls are for EMERGENCY use ONLY. DO NOT use emergency shutoff devices or controls for normal stopping procedure.
Ensure that any components for the external system that aid the engine operation are secured after the engine is stopped.Emergency Stop Button
Illustration 1 g00104303Use of the emergency stop will disable the fuel injection. If equipped, the air shutoffs will also be activated. If more emergency stops are installed, refer to the instructions that are provided by the OEM of the additional emergency stops.
Do not start the engine until the problem necessitating the emergency stop has been located and corrected.
The emergency stop button may need to be reset before the engine can be restarted. If equipped, the air shutoffs may need to be reset before the engine can be restarted.The power for the ECM must be cycled before the engine can be restarted.Air Shutoff (If Equipped)

(2) Position indicatorThe air shutoff is actuated by oil pressure. The air shutoff uses a moving plate to block inlet air to the engine. The engine stops because of the restricted air supply to the combustion chamber. The air shutoff will actuate for the following conditions:
The emergency stop button is pressed.
The air shutoff is activated.
An overspeed shutdown occurs.Manual release knob (1) has been provided as a safety feature to allow service personnel to trip the shutoff before service begins. The manual release knob is not intended to trip a shutoff on a running engine. The required force for pulling will be from 316 to 414 N (71 to 93 lb).Note: A switch may be supplied by the customer to activate the air shutoff.The air shutoff must be manually reset before the engine is restarted. To reset the air shutoff, use a wrench to turn the hex on the indicator in the direction of the arrow. Turn the hex until the indicator (2) is in the OPEN position.
