1. Turn crankshaft so connecting rod cap (1) to be removed is in the lowest position.2. Remove connecting rod cap retaining nuts (2).3. Remove connecting rod cap (1). 4. Remove bearing (3) from rod and cap. Clean crankshaft bearing journal.5. Install the upper half of the bearing in the connecting rod.6. Install the lower half of the bearing in the cap. 7. Put a 5B1161 wire (4) across the lower half of the connecting rod bearing.8. Install the connecting rod cap, bearing and wire. Do not install cap backward. Bearing location tangs must be on the same side of the connecting rod. Put engine oil on the bolt threads and tighten nuts to a torque of 50 5 lb. ft. (70 7 N m) plus 180°. 9. Remove connecting rod cap. Remove the wire from the cap and measure its thickness. The wire thickness (bearing clearance) must be .0029 to .0060 in. (0.074 to 0.152 mm) and must not exceed .010 in. (0.25 mm).10. If bearing clearance is correct, install rod cap and bearing again. Make sure that connecting rod bearing and crankshaft journal have a layer of engine oil. Tighten nuts to a torque of 50 5 lb.ft. (67.8 6.8 N m) plus 180°.end by: a) install oil pump
