Remove Steering Clutches
start by: a) remove brake hydraulic controls and actuating mechanisms.1. Remove the plug from the bevel gear case.2. Remove the bolts that hold the steering clutch to the steering clutch hub. Remove the bolts that hold the steering clutch to the flange through the opening in the bevel gear case.
Remove all of the bolts (1) and (2) except for one on each side of the steering clutch. The tractor must be moved forward or backward to remove all of the bolts.
3. Install two 3/8 in. rods 4 in. (10.2 cm) long through the brake bands. Fasten a hoist to the brake band and remove the two bolts from the steering clutch. Remove the steering clutch. Weight of the steering clutch is 250 lb. (113.4 kg).Install Steering Clutches
1. Fasten a hoist to the steering clutch as shown. Put the steering clutch between the steering clutch hub and flange.2. Put one flange in alignment and loosely install one bolt. Turn the steering clutch 180°. Install one more bolt that holds the outer drum to the flange. Install the other bolts that hold the steering clutches. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 200 20 lb.ft. (271.2 27.1 N m).3. Install the plug in the bevel gear case.end by: a) install brake hydraulic controls and actuating mechanisms.Disassemble Steering Clutches
start by: a) remove steering clutches1. Remove the brake band from the outer drum. 2. Install two 5/8"-11 NC forged eyebolts in the outer drum. Remove outer drum (1). Weight of the drum is 85 lb. (39 kg). 3. Install tool (B) over the stud on tool (A). Fasten a hoist to the steering clutch and put it over the stud on tool (A). 4. Install tool (C) and nut (2) over the stud.5. Put enough force on the steering clutch to put the springs under compression. Remove bolts (3) and the locks. 6. Release the compression from the springs. Remove nut (2) and tool (C). Remove pressure plate (4).7. Remove the twelve disc assemblies and eleven discs from the inner drum.8. Fasten a hoist to the inner drum and remove it. Weight of the inner drum is 50 lb. (22.7 kg).9. Remove the eight outer springs, inner springs, sleeves and retainers.Assemble Steering Clutches
1. Put tool (B) and the retainer on tool (A). 2. Put sleeves (1) in inner springs (2). Put the sleeves and inner springs in the outer springs. Install the springs and sleeves over the bosses on the retainer. 3. Fasten a hoist to inner drum (3). Install it over the stud and springs. Make sure the springs are in alignment with the holes in the inner drum. Install tool (C) and the nut on the stud of tool (A). Put force on the inner hub until the springs are under compression completely.4. Install the twelve disc assemblies starting with a disc assembly. Make sure there is a disc between each disc assembly. Put the disc aligners on tool (A) in position to keep the splines
