It may be necessary to start the machine and carefully move the control lever for the boom cylinders to align the pin bores.
41. Use a hammer and Tool (A) to drive pin assembly (8) in the rod end of right boom cylinder (2).42. Install two shims (7), spacer (6), plate (5) and three bolts (4) with washers on each side of pin assembly (8).
1.6 mm (.06 in) maximum at the rod end of left boom cylinder-to-fore boom pin bore.
43. Slide rod end of left boom cylinder (14) until contact is made with the fore boom. Measure the total clearance between rod end of left boom cylinder (14) and shims (7) at the pin joint. The total clearance must not be more than 1.6 mm (.06 in) maximum. If the total clearance is less than 1.6 mm (.06 in), the addition of more shims is not required. If the total clearance is more than 1.6 mm (.06 in), add the correct thickness of shims to obtain the necessary clearance.44. If it has been determined that shims need to be installed, remove three bolts (4), the washers, plate (5), spacer (6) and two shims (7) from the left side of pin assembly (8). Divide the necessary shim thickness measurement in half. This is the thickness of the shims to be installed on each side of the rod end bore of left boom cylinder (14) at the left boom cylinder-to-fore boom pin joint.45. Install the clearance shims, two shims (7), spacer (6), plate (5) and three bolts (4) with the washers, on the right side of pin assembly (8).
