Stopping the Machine
1. Move the machine to a safe location. Use the retarder and service brakes to stop the machine. 2. Move the transmission range selector to NEUTRAL and the neutral lock to ON. 3. Lower the bowl and close the apron.
Move the cushion hitch and bail control to the BAIL DOWN-LOCKDOWN position when parking the machine.
4. On earlier machines, move the parking/emergency brake lever to PARK.If the lever type parking brake of earlier machines is applied when the brakes are hot, the parking brakes may not release when the brakes cool.If the brakes are hot from extensive use, do not apply the parking brake. Move the machine to level ground, lower the bowl with down pressure, and block the wheels. 5. Pull the button to apply the parking brakes on later machines.The later braking system will release correctly if applied when brakes are hot.
If it is necessary to park on a grade, block the wheels in addition to setting the parking brakes.
Stopping the Engines
1. Operate the engines at reduced load for 5 minutes, to dissipate the heat. Use this time to park the machine and lower the equipment.2. Reduce the engine's speed to low idle for 30 seconds, to allow the turbochargers to slow down. 3. Press the stop button to stop the scraper engine. Hold the button in until the engine stops. 4. Lift the toe of the tractor accelerator to stop the tractor engine. 5. Turn the tractor disconnect switch OFF and remove the key. 6. Turn the scraper disconnect OFF and remove the key. *7. Fill the fuel tanks at the end of the day to drive out moisture laden air.8. If you are leaving the machine, lock vandalism guards in place, and close and lock cab doors and windows.*Later machines only, with scraper mounted batteries.
