Introduction
This Special Instruction provides information required to repair and reinforce cracks occurring in the side plates surrounding the implement control valve. Use the following information to repair the side plates and add additional support to the front frame.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.Necessary Parts

1. Remove the two guard assemblies for the implement control valve. Mark the location of the brackets that the guard assemblies are fastened to. Remove the brackets.

Left Side View3. Using an air carbon arc torch or similar tool, cut out the cracks in the side plates. Use the information in illustration (4) to cut out cracks and weld the side plates. Use E7018 welding electrodes for all welding.4. Put plates (1) and (2) in position and check the fit. See illustration (5) Sections A-A and B-B. Trim to fit if necessary. Cut the bevels on Plates (1) and (2) as shown.

Tack weld Plates 3, 4, 5 and 6 to Plates 1 and 2.Using the welds shown, weld plates 1 and 2 into position.Cut off extension of back up strips 3 and 4 and weld dams 6 flush with edge of plates 1 and 2. Grind smooth.6. Install brackets that hold the guard assemblies from step 1 into position.7. Clean and paint all repaired areas.
