To remove a lift cylinder, tool (A) must be installed on the opposite lift cylinder. If both lift cylinders are removed at the same time, use tooling (B) to support the lift arms.
Move all control levers backward and forward to release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Slowly loosen the cap on the hydraulic tank to release any pressure in the tank. Let the hydraulic oil become cool before any lines are disconnected in the hydraulic system.
1. Remove cover (1) from the front frame. 2. Disconnect hose assemblies (2) from the tube assemblies. 3. Fasten a hoist to the lift cylinder. Remove bolts and bar (4) that hold the pin in position. Remove pin (3). Lower the rod end of the lift cylinder. 4. Remove bolt (5). Remove pin assembly (6). 5. Remove lift cylinder (7). The weight of the lift cylinder is 105 lb. (47 kg). 6. Remove lip seals (9) and bearing (8) from the cylinder assembly.Install Lift Cylinders
Put 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease in all pin bores before assembly. 1. Use tooling (A) to install the bearing in the cylinder assembly. Install the bearing to a depth of .310 .020 in. (7.87 0.51 mm) below the surface of the cylinder assembly.2. Use tooling (A) to install the lip seals on each side of the bearing. Install the seals with the lip away from the bearing. Put clean 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease on the lip of the seals. 3. Fasten a hoist to the lift cylinder. Put lift cylinder (1) in position in the front frame. 4. Put the bore in the lift cylinder in alignment with the bores in the front frame. Install pin assembly (2). Install the bolt that holds the pin assembly.
Do not cause damage to the seals when the pin assembly is installed.
5. Put the bore in the rod end of the lift cylinder (1) in alignment with the bore in the lift arm. Install pin (3) in the lift cylinder and lift arm. Install bar (4) and bolts that hold the pin. 6. Connect hose assemblies (5) to the tube assemblies. 7. Install cover (6) on the front frame.Disassemble Lift Cylinders
start by:a) remove lift cylinders 1. Remove bolt and clip (2). Remove tube assemblies (1) from the lift cylinder. Remove the two lip-type seals and the bearing from the head end of the cylinder with tooling (D) and a press. 2. Put the lift cylinder in position on tooling (A) as shown.3. Remove screw (4) from the crown.4. Use tool (C) to remove crown (3) from the cylinder assembly. 5. Put the yoke assembly and strap of tooling (A) in position on the rod assembly as shown. Use tooling (A) to remove cylinder assembly (5) from rod assembly (6). 6. Use tooling (B) to remove the bolt and washer from the end of the rod assembly.Wolff Mfg. Co.
