Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Note: Ensure that the key for gear (8) is in position on camshaft (7) before gear (8) is installed.
Raise the temperature of gear (8) to a maximum temperature of 315 °C (600 °F). Install gear (1) on camshaft (7) .
Do not let Tooling (C) get on the bearing journals on the camshaft.
Put Tooling (C) on the lobes of camshaft (7) . Put clean engine oil on the camshaft journals.

Turn the crankshaft until (V) mark on the idler gear is positioned toward the bore of camshaft (7) .
Install camshaft (7) in the engine.

Rotate the engine until (V) marks of camshaft gear (8) and of idler gear (9) are in alignment.

Install plate (6) and bolts (5) that hold the camshaft in position in the engine.

Use Tooling (B) in order to put the bolt holes in the rear camshaft gear in alignment with the holes in the camshaft.
Install one bolt (4) in order to hold the rear camshaft gear on the camshaft. Remove Tooling (B) . Tighten bolt (4) to a torque of 27 4 N m (20 3 lb ft).
Use Tooling (A) to turn the flywheel so the three other bolts (4) can be installed in the rear camshaft gear. Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 27 4 N m (20 3 lb ft).

Put Tooling (D) on studs (3) . Install studs (3) in the flywheel housing.

Ensure that the gasket is in position between tube assembly (1) and the bottom of the turbocharger. Ensure that the gasket is in position between elbow (2) and the flywheel housing. Install tube assembly (1) and elbow (2) .End By:
Install the valve lifter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Lifter - Install".
Install the rocker shaft and the pushrod. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rocker Shaft and Push Rod - Install".
Install the timing gear cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Timing Gear Cover - Remove and Install".
