PROBLEM
Certain 8X2291 Housings used in the final drive groups of 160H and 163H motor graders, need to be removed from dealer parts stock. A production improvement has been made to improve service life of the housings. The engineering change level of the improved housings is change level 07. The housings that need to be removed from dealer stock are change level 06.
The part number and change level can be found cast into a window on the face of housing where it mounts to the tandem. Refer to the photo under the heading Action Required.
ACTION REQUIRED
Remove all 8X2291 Housings from dealer stock that are stamped with engineeing change level (06). See the photo.
The Part Number and Engineering Change Level are found Cast into mounting face side of housing.
SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all 8X2291 Housings (change level 06) removed from parts stock.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
