Introduction
This Special Instruction provides the necessary parts and information to install a front mounted scarifier (V- Type or Straight) from a G-Series to a H-Series motor grader.The information and dimensions in this Special Instruction applies to scarifiers built after August 1, 1977.Do not perform any procedure outlined in this publication, or order any parts, until you read and understand the information contained within. The control valves on the G-Series motor graders are not compatible with the valves on the H-Series motor graders. A front scarifer control valve must also be ordered for your machine.On the H-Series motor graders, the implement lock valves are built into the main hydraulic valve. Remote lock valves with the scarifiers from G-Series motor graders should not be used on the H-Series motor graders.Necessary Parts
120H and 135H Motor Graders
All the components from a 120G V-type or straight type front mounted scarifier can be used on a 120H or 135H Motor Graders except the bolster assembly and the hose assemblies.12H, 140H, 143H, 160H and 163H Motor Graders
All the components from the 12G, 130G or 140G V-type or straight type front mounted scarifiers are directly interchangeable to the 12H, 140H, 143H, 160H or 163H Motor Graders with the exception of the bolster assembly and the 2G-4337 and 2G-4338 Drawbar Assemblies and hose assemblies.The drawbar assemblies can be modified to work on the H-Series motor graders.Modification of 2G-4337 and 2G-4338 Drawbar Assemblies
1. Remove two 2G-7728 Collars from each drawbar assembly. 2. Locate and drill a 51 mm (2 in)Ø hole 102 mm (4 in) up from the original hole in each drawbar as shown in the illustration (location A).3. Locate and cut a 76 mm (3 in) radius from the new hole on each drawbar.4. There will be an arc left from the original hole on the end of the drawbar. Fill the arc with weld and grind smooth at location B.5. Locate a 2G-7728 Collar on each side of the drawbar around the new pivot hole. Fasten the collars to the drawbar with a 8 mm (.3 in) fillet weld ALL AROUND.Lift Arm And Cylinder Mounting Plates
If the brackets are not on your machine, they must be ordered and installed as shown in the illustration below. A. Refers to 120H and 135H Motor Graders only. B. Refers to 12H, 140H, 160H, 143H, and 163H Motor Graders only.1. Install 8W-0684 Bracket Assembly with a 10 mm (.4 in) fillet weld from C to D and E to F with a penetration of 1.5 mm (.06 in).2. Install 8W-0681 Plate with a 12 mm (.5 in) fillet weld with a penetration of 1.5 mm (.06 in) FOUR SLOTS at location G.
Location of the 8W-0680 Spacers required to limit shaft end play.3. On scarifiers manufactured before April 11, 1986, it will be necessary to limit the side-to-side end play to 6.0 to 2.0 mm (.24 to .08 in). Use 8W-0680 Spacers, which are 4.0 mm (.16 in) at Locations A and B to obtain the correct end play. Install
