Illustration 6 g00618588Note: Reaction hub (16) and ring gear (17) weigh 80 kg (176 lb).
Install Tooling (E) and a suitable lifting device to reaction hub (16).
Position reaction hub (16) and ring gear (17) in sprocket hub (19).
Install pins in reaction hub (16). Reaction hub (16) should be below the end of spindle (20).

Position retainer (15) on the reaction hub and install bolts (14).
Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft). Note: The spindle and retainer (15) must be in metal to metal contact.
Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between retainer (15) and the pins. The correct clearance between retainer (15) and the pins is 0.08 0.05 mm (0.003 0.002 inch).
Install ring (28) in retainer (15).

Install bearing cones (12) and bearing cups (13) in planetary gears (11).
Install planetary gears (11) in planetary carrier (8).
Lower the temperature of the planetary gear shafts.

Use a suitable press to install the planetary gear shafts.
Install retainers (10) and the bolts.
Tighten the retainer bolts to a torque of 50 10 N m (37 7 lb ft).

Use a suitable lifting device to position planetary carrier (8) on sun gear (7). The weight of planetary carrier (8) is approximately 37 kg (82 lb).
Install spiral ring (9).
Install sun gear (27) and ring (28).

Install Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device on planetary carrier (8). The weight of planetary carrier (8) and sun gears (7) and (27) are approximately 46 kg (101 lb).
Align the gears in planetary carrier (8) with ring gear (17) and sun gear (27).
Lower planetary carrier (8) in the final drive. Sun gear (27) should engage the planetary gears. Ring (28) should stay in the correct position.
Lower the temperature of the bearing cups.
Install the bearing cups in planetary gears (5).

Install bearing cones (6) in planetary gears (5).
Install planetary gears (5) in planetary carrier (2).

Lower the temperature of shafts (4).
Install shafts (4) in planetary carrier (1).
Reposition planetary carrier (1).

Use a depth micrometer to measure the difference between shafts (4) past the machined surface of planetary carrier (1). The correct Dimension is 0.08 0.05 mm (0.003 0.002 inch).
Install the O-ring seals on plates (3).
Install plates (3) and bolts on shafts (4). Note: Shafts (4) and plates (3) must be in metal to metal contact.
Drive plates (3) until plates (3) are flush with planetary carrier (1).
Tighten the bolts to a torque of 50 10 N m (37 7 lb ft).

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device on planetary carrier (1). The weight of planetary carrier (1) is approximately 110 kg (242 lb).
Install the O-ring seal on planetary carrier (1).
Install the O-ring seal on face of the sprocket hub.
Align the drain hole in planetary carrier (1) with the drain hole in the sprocket hub.
Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to position planetary carrier (1) on the sprocket hub.
Install bolts (2) that hold planetary carrier (1) to the sprocket hub.
Tighten bolts
