Information:

Never swing a load over a truck cab or over workers.Do not swing the linkage into stationery objects. Use the machine hydraulic system to stop the swing. If a sudden stop is required, use the swing brake.Repeated stopping by an object can cause structural damage if the front linkage is swung into a bank or an object. With certain boom-stick-work tool combinations, the work tool can hit the cab or front of the machine. Always check for interference with first operating a new work tool.Whenever the wheels of the machine raise off the ground while lifting, lower the machine back to the ground smoothly. DO NOT DROP OR CATCH IT WITH THE HYDRAULICS. Damage to the machine can result.Keep the stick out, when moving the machine, to prevent the clamshell, the grapple or the magnet from swinging into the cab. These work tools can swing in all directions.
The oscillating axle must be locked while work tools are being used to prevent damage of the machine. The oscillating axle must be locked before the boom and the stick are removed in order to prevent tipping of the machine.
Know the location of any power cables and any utility main. Mark the locations clearly before you operate the machine.Consult your Cat dealer for special work tools that are available for use in various applications.Move the machine whenever the position for lifting is not efficient. Use a comfortable travel speed while you operate the machine.Operating efficiency can be increased by using more than one machine control to perform a task.If loading a truck, position the truck so that material can be loaded from the rear of the truck or from the side of the truck. Load the truck evenly so that the rear axles are not overloaded.Select a work tool that is correct for the work to be performed. Work tools that do not match the work slow down the cycle.Restricted Operation
Illustration 1 g00103420Do not use the swing force to perform the following operations:
Pushing material
Separating material
DemolitionDo not swing the machine while the grapple is in the pile of material. These operations will damage the boom, the stick, and the work tool and the operations will reduce the life of the equipment.
Illustration 2 g00696847
Typical example
Do not use the dropping force of the work tool as a hammer. This will bring excessive force on the rear of the machine. Possible damage to the work tool and/or the machine could result.
Illustration 3 g00696871
Typical example
If the cylinder is operated at the end of the stroke during operations, excessive force will occur on the stopper on the inside of the cylinder. This will reduce the life of the cylinder and structures. To avoid this problem, always leave a small margin of play when the cylinder is operated.
Illustration 4 g00705013
Typical example
Do not use the front structures and the work tool to compact loose materials. Slowly lower the work tool to the loose material and slowly lift the material. Repeated cycles of rapid acceleration and abrupt stopping of the front structures and attached work tools
