2. Disconnect tube assembly (2). Cap or plug immediately.3. Remove two nuts or two bolts (1).4. Remove water separator (3). If only the water separator canister is to be replaced, follow these steps. The water separator assembly has a bayonet that allows the draining of the fuel as the water separator canister is removed.a. Remove nut (V). Remove the top plate, O-ring and the bayonet.b. Drain the water from the water separator.c. Loosen and remove nut (Y).d. Pull water separator bowl (Z) from the water separator canister.e. Loosen and remove nut (W).f. Pull water separator canister (X) from the water separator base assembly.g. Replace the water separator seal.h. Insert water separator canister (X).i. Install and tighten nut (W) until it snaps into position.j. Install water separator bowl seal.k. Insert water separator bowl (Z).l. Install and tighten nut (Y) until it snaps into position.m. Install the O-ring, the bayonet, the top plate and nut (V).n. Start engine and check for leaks. For installation of the water separator, reverse the removal steps.Disassemble & Assemble Water Separator
Start By:a. remove water separator 1. Open valve (3). Drain the water into a suitable container.2. Remove tube assembly (2). Tube assembly was previously disconnected during the remove and install procedure.3. Inspect two sleeve fittings (1) on the tube assembly for wear or damage. Replace if necessary. 4. Remove valve (3). 5. Remove washer (4) from valve (3). 6. Remove bowl assembly (5) from filter element (6). 7. Remove bolt (7) and seal from bowl assembly (5). 8. Remove bowl assembly (5) from head (8). Remove two seals (9) and (10) (not shown) from head (8). 9. Remove ring (11). 10. Remove fuel filter element (12) from fuel filter assembly (13). 11. Remove nut (14) from filter assembly (13).12. Remove O-ring (15). Check for wear or damage. Replace if necessary. 13. Remove seal (16) and cap (17) from nut (14). Check seal for wear or damage. Replace if necessary. 14. Remove plug (18) from filter assembly (13). 15. Filter assembly (13). If necessary, remove all plugs and washers. For assembly of the water separator, reverse the disassembly steps.End By:a. install water separator
