Connectors of "Steering Valve Control" module
The ECM supplies system power for the steering valve control module through an ON/OFF driver at contact J1-12. The CID 2650 FMI 05 diagnostic code is activated when the ECM detects that the current of power supply circuit is lower than the normal.The following conditions could cause this diagnostic code:
The power supply circuit is open in the machine harness.
The control module of the steering valve has failed.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Note: Before performing this procedure, inspect the harness connectors that are involved in the circuit. The 70 pin connector that passes the chassis circuits through the bulkhead at the front of the cab should be inspected for poor connections. Poor connections can often be the cause of a problem in an electrical circuit. Verify that all connections in the circuit are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. If a problem with a connection is found, correct the problem and verify that this diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure. Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected. Verify that the CID 2650 FMI 05 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Note: If a CID 2202 FMI 12 diagnostic code is active for the steering valve control module, the Implement ECM will turn OFF the power output for the steering valve control module. Verify that a CID 2202 FMI 12 diagnostic code is not active before proceeding with this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the control module of the steering valve.
At the machine harness connector from the steering valve control module, place a jumper wire between the supply contact 6 (wire M906-BU(Blue)) and the return contact 5 (wire H807-YL(Yellow)).
Disconnect the machine harness connectors J1 and J2 from the ECM.
Measure the resistance from signal contact J1-12 (wire M906-BU(Blue)) to return contact J2-4 (wire H807-YL(Yellow)). Expected Result:The resistance measurement is less than 5Ω.Results:
OK. - The resistance measurement is less than 5Ω. The power supply circuit is not open in the machine harness. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK. - The resistance measurement is greater than 5Ω. There is an open connection or a bad connection in the machine harness.Repair: Refer to the complete Electrical System Schematic of the machine. Check all of the connectors that are in the power supply circuit. Ensure that all connections are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE ECM OUTPUT SUPPLY VOLTAGEThe disconnect switch and the key start switch remain in the OFF position.
Reconnect the machine harness connectors J1 and J2 to the ECM connectors.
