PLATE-ADJUSTMENT 1261403 - Caterpillar

1. With the stick fully extended and the bucket open, lower the bucket to the ground. Stop the engine. 2. To release the oil pressure in the bucket cylinder circuit, slowly open screw (1) 1/2 turn until the oil pressure is released. Tighten the screw. Slowly open screw (2) 1/2 turn until the oil pressure is released. Tighten the screw.
Do not disconnect any oil lines from the bucket cylinder until all oil pressure in the bucket cylinder circuit has been released.
3. Disconnect oil lines (3) and (4) from the cylinder. 4. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder. Remove the bolts, spacer and bar (5) from the link. 5. Hold link (6) with a hoist and remove pin (7) with tooling (A). Lower the link to the ground.6. Lift the cylinder to a horizontal position. 7. Remove the bolt and cover (8). Remove the bolts, spacer and bar from the head end pin. Remove the pin.8. Remove the cylinder. The weight of the cylinder is 500 lb. (225 kg).Install Bucket Cylinder
1. Fasten a hoist to the bucket cylinder (1). Put the cylinder in position and install pin (2).2. Install the bar, spacer and bolts that hold the pin in place. Put the cover in position and install the bolt in the end of the pin.3. Lower the cylinder over the stick. Put 5P960 Multipurpose Type Grease on the bores for the rod end pin.
TYPICAL EXAMPLE4. Lift link (4) to put the bores in the rod and link in alignment. Install pin (3).5. Install the bar, spacer and bolts in side of the link. 6. Connect oil lines (5) and (6) to the cylinder.
