Install the required spacer onto pinion shaft (20) .

Install pinion shaft (20) into the axle carrier.

Install yoke (19), washer (18), and nut (17) .

Install discs (16) and side gear (15) into the differential gear case half.

Install gears (14) and thrust washers (13) .

Place differential gear case half (12) and spider assembly (11) into position in the axle carrier.

Install discs (9) and side gear (10) .

Install bevel gear (7) and differential gear case half (8) as a unit into the axle carrier.

Rotate Tooling (A) for a distance of 180 degrees.
Install bolts (6). The torque for bolts (6) is 150 N m (110 lb ft).

Raise the temperature of bearing cone (5) .
Install bearing cone (5) .

Install bearing cup (3) on each side of the axle carrier.
Install nut (2) on each side of the axle carrier.

Rotate Tooling (A) for a distance of 180 degrees.Note: Rotate the differential several times during this procedure.
Install Tooling (F) on the bevel gear.
Tighten adjusting nut (2) until a backlash of 0.20 0.08 mm (0.008 0.003 inch) is obtained.

Install Tooling (F) on the back side of bevel gear.
Tighten adjusting nut (2) opposite the bevel gear until there is zero bearing end play.
Tighten adjusting nut (2) by an additional two notches.
Use Tooling (F) in order to recheck the backlash.
Adjust the nuts in opposite directions until a backlash of 0.20 0.08 mm (0.008 0.003 inch) is obtained.
Install Tooling (F) on the back side of the bevel gear.
Rotate the bevel gear for one turn and check the face runout. The maximum allowable runout is 0.08 mm (0.003 inch).
