Piston rings (20) may break apart during removal from the pistons. If the rings are to be removed, wear eye protection to prevent possible personal injury from flying parts.
19. Use a screwdriver and remove piston rings (20) from the pistons. 20. Remove snap ring (22) and shim (21). 21. Insert four M6 X 1.0 X 120 mm bolts (23) through the four holes as shown. 22. Position shaft (24) in a press as shown with the shaft resting on bolts (23). Push the bearing set up until the heads of bolts (23) are approximately 6.35 mm (.250 in) from the bottom face of shaft (24). Shaft (24) must be supported when pressed clear of the bearing set.23. Install tooling (D) and press shaft (24) from the bearing set. The bearing set consists of bearing (25), spacer (27), and bearing (26).Assemble Swing Motor
1. Thoroughly clean all parts before assembly. Put a small amount of hydraulic oil on all parts before assembly.
Use extra care not to damage the highly finished surface of the barrel face and the distributor plate during the assembly of the swing motor.
2. Heat bearing cone (26) to a maximum temperature 90° C (194° F). Install bearing cone and outer race (26) on shaft (24).3. Install spacer (27). 4. Place shaft (24), with bearing (26) and spacer (27), on a surface plate in a vertical position as shown. Temporarily install bearing flange (8) and snap ring (12) on spacer (27). Measure the distance from the top of snap ring (12) to the surface plate to obtain dimension "A".5. Dimension "A" must be 135.0 0.05 mm (5.315 .002 in) to maintain the bearing set preload on shaft (24) after the assembly of the rotary group. Grind spacer (27) if dimension "A" is greater than the specified dimension. Replace spacer (27) if dimension "A" is less than the specified dimension. 6. Heat bearing (25) to a maximum temperature of 70° C (158° F). Install bearing (25) on shaft (24).7. Install shim (21) and snap ring (22) on shaft (24). 8. Heat bearing flange (8) to a maximum temperature of 70° C (158° F). Install bearing flange (8) on shaft (24). 9. Check eight axial pistons (20) on the ball end for scratches and pitting. Make replacement if necessary.
All piston rings must be installed with the marks toward the flat end of the piston or the motor will not operate.
10. The piston rings are spherical and must be installed with marks (28) toward the flat end of the pistons. Install the piston rings on the pistons. 11. Assemble retaining plate (18) and eight axial pistons (17) together on the shaft. Put 6V1541 Quick Cure Primer on the fourteen retaining plate bolts and let it dry. Use 9S3263 Thread Lock on the retaining plate bolts. Install fourteen retaining plate bolts (19). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 21 N m (15 lb ft).12. Install spring (16) in the center piston. 13.
