Place 475-1632 Plate (1) and align to front edge of coupler. Apply tack weld.
Ensure that the cover assembly mates properly to the slots in plate (1).

For machines equipped with electric couplers, extra trimming may be required to the cover assembly. Identify cover assembly (A) and trim as shown in (B).

Lay a 6 mm (0.24 inch) weld all around the bar on both the left and right-hand side of the coupler.

Add a 10 mm (0.4 inch) by 50 mm (2 inch) long weld at location shown in Illustration 7. Repeat process on the other side of coupler frame.

Locate and remove cover plates on left and right side. Repeat this process on the right-hand side.

Attach smaller 388-5207 Plates (gusset) (2) provided in kit to existing base plate and hand tighten bolts for reference. Ensure plates (2) are located on top of the weld on existing gusset plates.

Lay a 6 mm (0.2 inch) weld on either side of the left and right-side plates.
Ensure all metallic debris/weld spatter is removed. Touch up with paint as needed.

Follow Disassembly and Assembly, UENR3731, "Coupler Cylinder - Remove and Install", under section "Installation Procedure", to reinstall electric actuator. Be sure that the actuator is oriented as shown in Illustration 11, with the electric motor pointing downward.

Cycle the coupler tilt cylinders two times (ensuring the coupler hits the lift arm rack stops). On the third time, operate the tilt cylinder gently until only one side is barely touching the coupler stop. Measure largest gap on opposite side.

Low contact for rack stop should be eliminated. Remove material on lift arm or coupler to ensure clearance.Note: If, the measured gap is less than 3 mm (0.12 inch) then no rework is needed.

If the gap is 3 mm (0.12inch) to 6 mm (0.24 inch), remove material either on the lift arm or on the coupler to ensure that gap is less than 3 mm (0.12inch). Use appropriate method to remove material from coupler or lift arm on the opposite side of where it made contact. Ensure no more than 2 mm (0.08 inch) is removed from the coupler cast surface.
Complete update by removing metallic debris/spatter and touch up with paint as necessary.After Rework Procedure

Follow Disassembly and Assembly, UENR3731, "Coupler Cylinder - Remove and Install", to remove the failed coupler, and install the new coupler assembly. Ensure that the actuator is oriented as shown, with the electric motor pointing downwards.
