Illustration 1 g01361702To engage the brake, press the service brake pedal. Fully depress the service brake pedal in order to lock the service brake pedal. When the service brake pedal is locked, the oscillating axle is activated. To disengage the service brake pedal, depress the small pedal that is located to the left of the service brake pedal.Note: When the service brake pedal is disengaged, the oscillating axle is unlocked. The oscillating axle control can be used in order to lock the oscillating axle when the service brake pedal is unlocked. For more information, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Operator Controls".Lock the service brake pedal while you operate the work tools. The brake lights will shut off after the service brake pedal has been locked for 20 seconds.Note: When the service brake pedal is in the locked position, the oscillating axle will also be locked.Use the brakes on a downgrade to prevent the machine from overspeeding. When the deceleration from the wheel brake pedal is not sufficient, use first gear to avoid overheating the hydraulic oil on steep downhill travel.To avoid early brake wear or brake damage, do not use the service brake pedal as a footrest.Note: The ergonomic position of the service brake pedal can be changed.
