To prevent personal injury, never visually inspect the vent holes or the valves to see if grease or oil is coming out of them. Make sure the vent holes are clean before the tension is released on the track. Watch the front roller frame to see that it moves.
The track roller frame can be separated into two sections. Front section (4) has tube assembly (8). The tube assembly telescopes into rear roller frame (1).Recoil spring (9) and the track adjuster are located inside tube assembly (8). A groove is machined in the outer diameter of the tube assembly. A recoil oscillation guide (3) is installed in rear roller frame (1).After installation, recoil oscillation guide (3) is in alignment with the groove in tube assembly (8). The recoil oscillation guide prevents any rotation of the tube assembly inside the rear section of the roller frame. The recoil oscillation guide allows the tube assembly to slide in and out during recoil.Valves (5) are used for moving the front roller frame to adjust the track. Grease is pumped into valve (5) and the grease causes piston (7) to move to the right. The movement causes front roller frame (4) to move out of rear roller frame (1). The movement of the recoil rod and front idler tightens the track. The tension on the track is released by a relief valve.Cartridge Pin Assembly

(16) Pin The major bogies and the minor bogies pivot on sealed, lubricated cartridge pins. The main components of the cartridge pins are the following components: pin (16), collar (11), collar (12), bushing (15), thrust rings (13) and Duo-cone seals (14)Hollow pin (16) is used as an oil reservoir. The oil flows through the drilled holes in the pin for lubrication of bushing (15). Also, the oil keeps the seal surfaces wet.Duo-cone seals (14) are used to keep the oil in the pin and the dirt out of the pin. Collars (11) and (12) are installed on the pin with a press fit. Also, collars (11) and (12) are installed in the roller frame supports with a press fit. The pin and collars cannot turn.Bushing (15) is free to turn around the pin. The outside diameter of the bushing is installed in the bogie with a press fit. The bogie is permitted to pivot around the pin.Outer collar (12) has a larger outside diameter than bushing (15). The outside diameter of the bushing is larger than the diameter of inner collar (11). The large end of the pin assembly is marked with the letter “X”.The thrust rings are used to keep the correct distance between the collars and the bushing.
