Location of Transmission Oil CoolerThe transmission oil cooler is located in the cooling package at the front of the engine. The transmission cooler is located on the right side of the cooling package.Hot oil is sent from the relief valve to the cooler inlet through an external line.The hot oil that comes into the cooler inlet flows around the oil tubes and along the oil tubes. Heat is removed from the oil. This heat is absorbed by the metal cooler and radiated by fins. Air that is pulled through the oil cooler by the engine fan absorbs the heat.The cooled oil exits through the cooler outlet. The cooled oil then returns to the relief valve. The flow is then divided for the lubrication for the transmission clutches and bearings.Use the correct maintenance procedures in order to make sure that the oil cooler does not become full of debris and stop the flow of air.
