Personal injury or death can result from machine articulation or movement.Machine frames can move and a person can be crushed.Connect the steering frame lock link between the front and rear frames before working on machine.Do not disconnect the lock link until the machine is made operational and the commissioning procedure is completed.
Without disconnecting the sensor or the hardware that is associated with the sensor from the machine, take the sensor through the full operating range of the sensor.
Connect the steering frame lock link between the front and rear frames of the machine. Expected Result:The sensors signal responds in the manner that is described at the beginning of this procedure.Results:
OK - The sensors signal responds correctly. The sensor is operating correctly. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - The sensors signal does not respond correctly. The sensor is not operating correctly.Repair: Replace the "articulation angle 2" sensor. After the sensor is replaced, the sensor must be calibrated. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" section of this manual for the correct calibration procedure.STOPTest Step 4. CHECK FOR AN OPEN IN THE SIGNAL CIRCUIT
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the sensor.
At the machine harness connector for the sensor, connector a jumper wire between a good frame ground contact and signal contact 6 (wire U768-BU(Blue)).
Disconnect the machine harness connector J2 from the Implement ECM.
At the Implement ECM machine harness connector, measure the resistance from a good frame ground contact to Implement ECM connector contact J2-17 (wire U768-BU(Blue)).
While observing the resistance measurement, wiggle the ECM connector and the sensor connector. Gently pull on the wires and move the wires around for both connectors. Expected Result:The resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms at all times during the manipulation of the wiring harness.Results:
OK - The resistance measures less than 5 ohms. The resistance measurement is not indicating an open in the circuit. Proceed to Test Step5.
NOT OK - The resistance measurement is greater than 5 ohms. There is an open or a bad connection in the signal circuit.Repair: If both of the ECM modules have activated this diagnostic code, there is most likely an open or a bad connection on the sensor side of the machine harness splice connection for the signal wire.If only the Implement ECM has activated this diagnostic code, there is most likely an open or a bad connection on the ECM side of the machine harness splice connection for the signal wire.In either case, refer to the complete Electrical System Schematic of the machine. Check all of the connectors that are in the suspected section of the sensor signal circuit. Ensure that all connections are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. STOPTest Step 5.
