Change the Fluid Filters
Hot fluid and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot fluid or components to contact skin.Hot fluid can cause burns.At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.
The fluid in the hydraulic system should be tested every 500 hours or 3 months, to ensure proper water glycol fluid mixture. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for testing. 1. Remove the fluid fill cap (1). Remove the six bolts (2) and cover (3). 2. Remove the plug (1) and the nut (2). Remove the cover housing (3). 3. Remove and discard the filter element. 4. Install a new filter element. 5. Install the cover housing. 6. Install the nut and plug. 7. Repeat the above procedure on the other filter.8. Install the cover, bolts and fluid fill cap. 9. Maintain the fluid to the ADD mark in the sight gauge. 10. Lift the cover and remove the fluid fill cap if necessary to add water-glycol fluid.
