The diverter valve is located above the transmission and beneath the transmission cover on the rear of the tractor.Note: Relief valve (4) and relief valve (5) are identical. Cross section (A) shows the components of the relief valves. References to these components describe both relief valves. Two relief valves are used in order to increase the flow capacity of the diverter valve.The diverter valve consists of manifold (1), solenoid valve (6), and relief valves (4) and (5) .The diverter valve performs two functions:
The diverter valve directs oil to the rod side of the ejector cylinder when the ejector cylinder is extending.
When the ejector cylinder is retracting, the diverter valve opens up a flow path between the ejector cylinder and the tank. This allows a portion of the return oil to bypass the ejector control valve. Speed of retraction would be limited if all return oil flowed through the ejector control valve. The ejector control valve restricts the flow of return oil from the piston side of the ejector cylinder.EjectingWhen the ejector cylinder is extending, solenoid valve (6) is de-energized. Oil flows into port (12) and pressure acts on spools (15). Oil also flows through restrictors (13). Pressure acts on the spring sides of spools (15) and on cartridge (8) of the solenoid valve. Springs (17) ensure that the spools remain seated. Oil flow to tank port (3) of the diverter valve is blocked by relief valves (4) and (5) and by cartridge (8). Oil flows from the diverter valve through port (2) to the ejector cylinder.Restrictors (13) minimize the pressure difference across spools (15) when the ejector cylinder is momentarily extended. The restrictors retain oil between the spring sides of spools (15) and cartridge (8) .ReturningWhen the ejector cylinder is retracting, solenoid valve (6) is energized and cartridge (8) moves within manifold (1) toward armature (7). Oil flows into the diverter valve through port (2). Port (2) is connected to the piston side of the ejector cylinder. Oil is allowed to flow past cartridge (8). This relieves the pressure, which acts on the spring side of spools (15). As the system pressure rises, spools (15) are offset against the springs. This opens up a flow path from port (2) to tank port (3) of the diverter valve. Oil flows from the diverter valve to the tank through tank port (3) and to the ejector control valve through port (12) .Restrictors (13) ensure that there is a pressure difference across spools (15) when the ejector cylinder is retracting. This pressure difference opens the relief valves.
