ECM controls the transmission shift points. The basic components and corresponding requirements for shifting of the transmission are listed below:Key Start Switch - This switch provides the +battery voltage to the ECM when the switch is placed in the ON position. This input also provides power to the start relay.Shift Lever Sensor - The ECM must know the current gear position. The sensor for the shift lever provides a PWM signal. The PWM signal varies with the gear that is selected.Top Gear Switch - This switch is used to select the desired top gear that is desired by the operator. This setting is limited to the machine's Maximum Drive Gear. Transmission Gear Switch - This switch provides information on the current transmission gear to the ECM.Neutral/Run Switch - The status of this switch will determine the operational mode of the scraper's transmission. The two modes are "Run" and "Neutral".Transmission Output Speed Sensor (TOS) - The TOS provides the ECM with the output speed of the transmission. Machines that were manufactured starting in the year 2005 are equipped with two transmission output speed sensors (TOS 1 and TOS 2).Engine Output Speed Sensor (EOS) - The EOS provides the ECM with the output speed of the engine.Upshift Solenoid and Downshift Solenoid - The ECM electrically shifts the transmission. The ECM uses the upshift solenoid and the downshift solenoid to shift the transmission. The transmission is always shifted one gear at a time. The ECM activates the solenoids electronically in order to shift the transmission.
