Servicing and changing tires and rims can be dangerous. This work must be done only by trained personnel with correct tools and procedures. If correct procedures are not followed while servicing tires and rims, the assemblies can burst with explosive force and cause serious physical injury or death. Follow carefully the specification information provided by your tire servicing person or dealer.
Note: Refer to the Operations and Maintenance Manual for the correct tire handling recommendations and tire inflation procedures.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all hose assemblies, on all wire harnesses, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Place Tooling (A) under the frame of the truck. Refer to the Operations and Maintenance Manual, "Jacking Locations" for the proper locations of the lift stands.
Use Tooling (A) to lift the rear chassis until the weight of the truck is off the rear tires. The weight of the rear of the truck is approximately 47860 kg (105515 lb). Refer to Tool Operating Manual, NEHS1328, "Lift Group (Stand - 60 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (A).

Remove one locknut (3) from each of two valve extensions (4).
Remove four bolts (1) and the washers to remove bracket (2) and four spacers (5).

Use Tooling (B) to remove 53 bolts (7) and the washers from tire and rim (6).Note: Four bolts (7) and the washers should be left on tire and rim (6), equally spaced, until a suitable tire handler can be positioned.
Position a suitable tire handler to support tire and rim (6). Remove four bolts (7) and the washers to remove tire and rim (6) from the wheel. The weight of tire and rim (6) is 3330 kg (7340 lb).

Position a suitable lift truck to support ring (9). Use Tooling (B) (not shown) to remove 42 nuts (8) and the washers from ring (9).
Use Tooling (B) (not shown) to remove three flange nuts (10) from ring (9).
Remove ring (9) from tire and rim (6). The weight of ring (9) is approximately 114 kg (250 lb).

Remove six bolts (11), two bolts (13) and the hard washers to remove four plates (12) from the wheel.

Remove two bolts (14) and the hard washers to remove clamp (16) from the wheel.
Remove hose assembly (15).
