The CID 0886 diagnostic code is associated with the "Ripper Shank In/Winch Drum Clutch Release". The FMI 05 diagnostic code means that the Implement ECM has determined that an open connection exists in the circuit of the solenoid.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The energize circuit of the solenoid is open.
The return circuit of the solenoid is open.
The solenoid has failed.
The ECM has failed. This condition is unlikely.Note: The following procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected.Ensure that the diagnostic code of CID 0886 FMI 05 is active before performing this procedure.Note: Use the 146-4080 Digital Multimeter of the measurements in this procedure.System Response:
A level 2 warning will be generated.
All functions of shank in are lost.
The "Auto Stow" feature will be disabled.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SOLENOID.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Disconnect the machine harness from the solenoid.
At the machine harness connector for the solenoid, place a jumper wire from contact 1 (wire J922-GY(Grey)) to contact 2 (wire H802-GY(Grey)).
Observe the status of the diagnostic code. Expected Result:The CID 0886 FMI 05 diagnostic code is no longer active. A CID 0886 FMI 06 diagnostic code is active after the jumper wire is connected.Results:
OK - The CID 0886 FMI 05 diagnostic code is no longer active. A CID 0886 FMI 06 diagnostic code is active after the jumper wire is connected. The solenoid has failed.Repair: Repeat this test "CHECK THE SOLENOID" in order to verify that the solenoid has failed. Replace the solenoid. Calibrate the solenoids of the ripper. Refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" procedure in the service manual for your machine.STOP
NOT OK - The CID 0886 FMI 05 diagnostic code remains active. The jumper wire does not affect the status of the diagnostic code. The solenoid is not causing the problem. Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR AN OPEN.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the ECM.
The jumper wire that was installed in the previous Test Step remains in place.
At the machine harness connector, measure the resistance from signal contact J1-61 (wire J913-GN(Green)) to J1-60 (wire H802-GY(Grey)). Expected Result:The resistance should be less than 5.0 ohms.Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5.0 ohms. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to test step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms. The resistance measurement is not correct. There is an open circuit in the machine harness.Repair: The open is in H802-GY(Grey) of the machine harness. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE
Inspect the contacts of the harness connectors and clean the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
