Calibration Procedure
Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel. Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Lower the work tool to the ground. Stop the engine.

Connect the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the machine.Reference: For additional information on use of the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET), refer to Troubleshooting and Testing and Adjusting, "Using Caterpillar Electronic Technician to Determine Diagnostic Codes" for the machine that is being serviced.
Start the machine.
Open the software program for the ET.
Select "Implement" for the machine that is being serviced from the "ECM Selector" screen and click on the "OK" button.
Select "Service" menu in the ET.
Select "Calibrations" from the "Service" menu.
Select "Linkage Calibration" from the "Calibrations" menu. Note: The ET software defaults so that all the linkage position sensors will be selected for calibration. Select the check mark button next to an individual control lever in order to remove a linkage position sensor from the calibration procedure.

Joystick ControlThe up arrow refers to the LOWER position. The down arrow refers to the RAISE position. The right arrow refers to the DUMP position. The left arrow refers to the TILT BACK position. The right arrow in detail A refers to the auxiliary lever in the REARWARD position. The left arrow in detail A refers to the auxiliary lever in the FORWARD position.Note: If the machine is equipped with a joystick control, follow the same strategy that is used by the control levers.
Select the "Begin" button. The screen will change in order to display step-by-step instructions for calibrating the lift linkage position sensor. Note: The ET screen will be divided into three display areas. The top section of the screen will be used to display important status parameters that are monitored during the calibration. The middle section of the screen displays the information about the calibration procedure. The bottom section of the screen displays the step-by-step instructions for the calibration. The step that currently needs to be performed will be in bold text. All other steps will be displayed in gray text.
Select the "Next" button in order to begin the calibration. A check mark button will be placed to the left of a completed step and the next step will be highlighted in bold text. After successful completion of a step, you may need to select the "Next" button in order to begin the next step. Follow the steps that are listed in the bottom section of the screen until the calibration procedure is complete.
When the calibration is complete, ET will display a status screen. The status screen will inform you if the calibration was successful. Select the "Continue" button in order to go to the next calibration or the "Cancel" button in order to end the calibrations.
