197-9251 PISTON PIN ASSEMBLYPlug (1).Pin (2). Except for the new 197-9251 Piston Pin Assembly, the new rod and piston group is the same as the former 117-2673 Rod and Piston Group that was used in the engines in these machines. The new 197-9251 Piston Pin Assembly can be used to replace the 168-7296 Piston Pin and 113-8999 Plugs in the 117-2673 Rod and Piston Group in earlier 3196 (6AR) Engines in these machines. If you have a failure of a piston pin plug in an engine, Caterpillar recommends replacing all of the 168-7296 Piston Pins and 113-8999 Plugs in the engine with the new 197-9251 Piston Pin Assembly.
