Failure may occur while flashing Advisor Software on certainmachines that are listed above. While updating, or loading the advisorsoftware, Winflash stops loading and locksup at a low percentage.Solution
Perform the following instructions if failure occurs while loading/updatingadvisor software:
If you are using a Comm III adapter to install the advisorsoftware, make sure that the Comm III toolkit, drivers on the computer,and firmware on Comm III adapter are updated. Download the files andsave to the computer. Theses files are large and can be found at:https://dealer.cat.com/cda/components/fullArticleNoNav?id=3012140&x=Click on the executable file "Caterpillar CommunicationAdapter" file, and follow the direction on the screen to updatethe COMM III toolkit and the drivers.Follow the direction below to update the COMM III toolkit andthe drivers:
Plug the COMM III adapter into the computer's USB Port afterdrivers and toolkit have been updated. Open the Comm III toolkit,select Start > All Programs > Caterpillar Comm Adapter 3.

Click on the connect icon (1) at the middleon the top of the window.
Select the .bz2 file that is saved to the harddrive, and select "Begin" button (2).The completion message will appear when the process is completed.
Cat® Object Detection Display (CMPD) may interruptthe flashing of the advisor display. If the machine is equipped with CMPD, unplug the power cable (Center Plug) to the CMPD displaybefore flashing the advisor software. Make certain to restart themachine after the flash was successful.
