Fabricated positioning fixtures are needed to prevent damage to the track seals during the rebuild procedure for track links. Use the chart that follows to find the correct fixture according to the model:
If the track is assembled, submerged arc welding must not be used for the reconditioning of Sealed and Lubricated Track or the seals will be damaged. If the welding is done while the track is assembled, the joints can possibly test good at the time of a vacuum test, but the heat will damage the seal and cause premature (early) loss of lubricating oil from the track joint. The correct procedure for submerged arc welding of Sealed and Lubricated Track is to disassemble the track completely and remove the seals from the track links.
