Position the felling head into a horizontal position, as shown.

Attach a suitable lifting device to boom cylinder (5), as shown. Remove grease line (1) from the rod end of the boom cylinder. Remove bolts (2) and plate (3) .
Push pin (4) (not shown) from boom cylinder (5) into the boom.
Start the machine and retract the boom cylinder. Lower the rod end of the boom cylinder onto the frame of the machine..

Disconnect hose assemblies (6) and (7). Disconnect clamp (8) .

Attach an additional suitable lifting device to boom cylinder (5). Remove bolt (9) and pin assembly (10). Remove boom cylinder (5). The weight of the boom cylinder is approximately 227 kg (500 lb).Disassembly and Assembly

Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.

Connect hose assemblies (6) and (7). Connect clamp (8) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to boom cylinder (5), as shown. Raise the rod end of the boom cylinder into position. Start the machine and extend the rod of the boom cylinder until the rod eye is in line with the bore of the boom. Install pin assembly (4) through the boom and into boom cylinder (5). Install plate (3) and bolts (2). Install grease line (1) to the rod end of the boom cylinder.
