Removal Procedure
Start By:
Install the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components.At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all hose assemblies, on all tube assemblies and on all wire harnesses for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

Drain the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic tank. The capacity of the hydraulic tank is 420 L (111 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7173, "Hoist, Torque Converter and Brake Tank Oil - Change" for the correct procedure.
Position a suitable container under housing assembly (2) in order to contain the hydraulic oil for storage or disposal.
Remove drain plug (3) from housing assembly (2) in order to drain the hydraulic oil from housing assembly (2). Note: Check the O-ring seals on drain plug (3) for wear or damage. Replace the O-ring seal, if necessary.
Install drain plug (3) and the O-ring seal in housing assembly (2) in order to prevent contamination.

In order to ease removal, loosen housing assembly (2) prior to removing base (1) from the frame assembly.

Disconnect hose assemblies (4) and (5) from base (1).

Loosen two nuts (7) in order to disconnect wire harness (6) from bypass switch (8).

Remove three bolts (10), the hard washers and one clip (9) in order to remove base (1) from the frame assembly.
