Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Ensure that all adjustments and repairs that are carried out to the Diesel Emission Fluid (DEF) system are performed by authorized personnel that have the correct training. Before beginning ANY work on the DEF system, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard" for safety information.
Care must be taken to ensure that Diesel Emission Fluid (DEF) for the system are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Use caps to plug all hoses after disconnecting the hoses.
Ensure that the purge process for the DEF system is completed before turning the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Battery Disconnect Switch" for further information.

Disconnect hose assembly (3) and hose assembly (4).
Illustration 3 g03876159
Disconnect hose assembly (5), hose assembly (6), hose assembly (7), and hose assembly (8).Installation Procedure
There are three DEF lines. The two longer DEF lines (Return and Pressurized) require marking them at the locations shown in the next Steps. These marks will be used during the installation and will be the location of P-clip mounting points.Note: If these P-clips are not installed at the specified locations, the DEF lines will get kinked and will require replacing.

The longest DEF line is the DEF (Return) which is routed from the DEF injector to the tank. Mark the hose at the three locations shown in Illustration 5 for the three P-clip mounting points.
Illustration 5 g06051134
The middle length of the three DEF lines is DEF (Pressurized) which is routed from DEF Pump to DEF Injector.
The shortest DEF lines is the DEF (Suction) which is routed from the DEF Tank to the DEF pump. This DEF line is an easy installation and does not need any markings.
