Transmission/Chassis ECM
Note: The transmission/chassis ECM can be flashed over the J1939 Data Link.The transmission/chassis ECM has the following enhancements to software:
A modification has been made in order to add underspeed protection.Note: If the engine drops below 800 revolutions per minute (RPM) under a heavy load, the transmission will automatically downshift. This applies only to the 14M and 16M.
A modification has been made for testing the parking brake.Note: The improved test will shift the transmission from fifth gear to neutral gear after the engine speed has been lugged down to a speed for testing the parking brake adequately. This applies only to the 14M and 16M.
An improvement has been made to the logic for shift control.
An improvement has been made for the sensing of machine speed.Note: Certain harnesses for the transmission ECM may require the A/C wire to be relocated. The current placement of the wire may cause a reset of the transmission and the application of the parking brake automatically. When Caterpillar Electronic Technician is connected to the machine, check the serial number for the transmission ECM. If the serial number ends in "MS", then no further action is required. If the serial number ends in "JT" or "IS", consult your local Caterpillar technical communicator for the rework procedure.Engine ECM
