1. Remove the head and rod from each 9T-9203 and 9T-9204 Tilt Cylinder on the machine.2. Remove the piston from each rod and slide the rod out of each head.3. Machine the land closest to the piston off each head. See Illustration 1.
Illustration 1. (A) Machine head so entire surface is at this level. (B) Remove this land.4. Install new wipers, seal, and step buffers in each head. Install the rods through the heads. Install the new 118-0609 Pistons on dry rod threads and tighten to 700 70 N m (520 52 lb ft). Lubricate the faces of the pistons and the nuts and tighten the nuts to 7500 750 N m (5550 555 lb ft).5. Examine the face of the ring in each cylinder assembly for grooving. If the grooving from the previous piston plungers can be felt with a finger tip, the groove should be machined off.

After examining the assembly, if no machining is required, or after machining the ring smooth, measure the distance from the face of the ring to the cap where the rod stops. See Illustration 2. If the distance is not 78.0 1.0 mm (3.00 .04 in), machine the face of the ring or the face of the cap to achieve this dimension. 7. Put new seals, wear rings, head seal, and back-up rings on the pistons and heads. Assemble the cylinders.8. Stamp an "09" on the part number tag or cylinder assembly to indicate that each cylinder has been updated to Engineering Change Number 9.
