Typical Crack in the Track shoeEarly in 2007, the material of the shoe was changed back to the original specification in order to eliminate this problem. Machine serial numbers were not recorded but the change back to the original material occurred in March 2007. Track shoes with date codes between 1October 2004 and 15March 2007 are made from the material that can crack. Track shoes with date codes that are before 1October 2004 or after 15March 2007 are made from the current specification of steel. The date code is marked on the inside surface of the track shoe assembly. The format of the date code is shown in Illustration 2. The improved track shoes are adaptable to all track shoe assemblies. The part number has not changed.

Date Code Format (1) Number (2) Two Circles (3) Matrix of six boxesThere is a number (1) and two circles (2) in a line. The two circles are divided into quadrants and each quadrant can have 0 to 3 dots. The number and the dots in the circles together represent the year and the month of manufacture. There is a matrix of six boxes (3) that have dots that represent the day of the month. Refer to Illustration 3 for an example in order to read the date code.

The 06 with twelve dots in the first circle and the three dots in the second circle means. March 2007. The sixteen dots that are located in the boxes mean the sixteenth day of the month. The date code is 16March 2007. The improved track shoes are adaptable to all track shoe assemblies.
