Before the propel pump is assembled, make sure all the pump parts are clean and free of all dirt and foreign material. Check all parts for damage or wear. Lubricate all moving parts with clean hydraulic system oil at the time of assembly. 1. Assemble servo piston assembly (56) as follows: a. Install rod (68) in piston (60).b. Install collar (71) and spring (73) on rod (68). Carefully compress spring (73), and install collar (74), keepers (75), retainer (76) and retaining ring (61). Slowly release the spring tension.c. Install collar (70), spacer (69) and spring (67) on rod (68). Carefully compress spring (67), and install collar (66), keepers (65), retainer (64) and retaining ring (59). Slowly release the spring tension.d. Install O-ring seal (72) on rod (67).e. Install O-ring seal (62) on cover (63). Install cover (63) on rod (68), and install nut (57).2. Install O-ring seal (58) on cover (42). Install cover (42) in pump housing (37), and install the four bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 25 N m (18 lb ft).3. Position servo piston assembly (56) in the pump housing, and install four bolts (55). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 25 N m (18 lb ft).4. Position the gasket and directional control valve (54) on the pump housing, and install five bolts (52). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 10 N m (7 lb ft). The Lift-Off Limitation adjustment is controlled by the thickness of shim (49).5. Determine the Lift-Off Limitation Adjustment of the rotating group as follows: a. Place port plate (22) on a surface plate as shown. The flat side of the port plate should be against the surface plate. b. Install Tool (A) in the inside diameter of port plate (22) as shown. c. Place cylinder block (36) in position on Tool (A) and port plate (22). Make sure the cylinder block is seated properly on the alignment plug [Tool (A)] and the port plate. d. Make sure there are no shims or belville springs in balljoint (51). Install Tool (B) in balljoint (51) as shown. e. Place balljoint (51), with Tool (B), in position on cylinder block (36) as shown. f. Place plate (41) in position on balljoint (51) as shown. g. Bolt Tool (C) to Tool (D) as shown. h. Place the assembled tool into the spined bores of balljoint (51), cylinder block (36) and on plate (41) as shown. Make sure the tool is properly seated in balljoint (51), cylinder block (36) and on plate (41). i. Record the dimension that is stamped on the side of Tool (D). This dimension is the distance from the top of plate (41) to the top of Tool (D). Call this dimension (W). j. Use a Starrett Vernier Height Gauge or a similar tool to measure the dimension in Step k. k. Measure the distance from the top of the surface plate to the top of Tool (D). Record this dimension, and call it dimension (X).
