 Hydraulic System Tests
A. Hydraulic Pump Flow Test
1. Disconnect the output line from either the primary or the secondary port and install a flow meter so the pump output passes through the flow meter.2. With the engine at full throttle the flow meter should read approximately 2 gpm (7.57 lpm) in the primary port and 12.5 gpm (47.31 lpm) in the secondary port. C. Hydraulic Pump Pressure Check
1. Install a flow meter with a restrictor and a 4000 psi (23,790 kPa) pressure gauge in the output port of the hydraulic pump.2. Start the engine and run at full throttle.3. SLOWLY close the restrictor valve.
Read and understand the flow meter instructions before using the flow meter.
4. The gauge in the flow meter should read 2000 psi (13,790 kPa). D. Steering Valve Pressure Test
1. Install a tee and a 4000 psi (27,580 kPa) pressure gauge in the one of the ports of the front steer cylinder. Reconnect the line in the run of the tee.2. Set the engine at half-throttle and place the steering selector lever in the "down" position for front steering.3. Turn the steering wheel to pressurize the line.4. The gauge should read approximately 2000 psi (13,790 kPa).5. If the pressure is low, repair or replace the steering valve.6. If the pressure is high, check for sticking control valve and spring in the steering pump. Repair or replace as necessary. E. Cylinder Leakage Test
1. Extend or retract the cylinder to be tested all the way to its stop.2. Remove the unpressurized line from the hydraulic cylinder.3. No more than a trickle should issue from the port. If this occurs, the cylinder should be repaired or replaced. F. Crowd Motor Pressure Check
1. Install a flow meter with a restrictor valve and a 4000 psi (27,580 kPa) pressure gauge in the intake port of the crowd motor.2. Start the engine and run at full throttle.3. SLOWLY close the restrictor valve.
Read and understand the flow meter operating instructions before operating the flow meter.
4. The gauge on the flow meter should read approximately 2000 psi (13,790 kPa).5. If the reading is low, check the relief. G. Lift And Tilt Control Valve Test
1. Place a 2400 psi (16,548 kPa) pressure gauge between the port in the rod end of the cutter lift cylinder and the hydraulic line.2. Start the engine and run at full throttle.3. Place the control for the cutter lift in the raise position and raise the cutter assembly to the maximum height.4. The gauge should peak at 1200 psi (8274 kPa).5. If the reading is above or below 1200 psi (8274 kPa) the relief in the control valve must be adjusted. Troubleshooting Guide
